Aside from feeding my senses with beautiful places and  trying mouth-watering delicacies, going to new places give me memories that I can cherish forever. While there are numerous places to visit abroad, let us not forget how beautiful our country is. It’s true  that having a taste of a different culture is a good experience, but it would not hurt if we also discover the hidden gems in the Philippines. 


Most of you probably have visited the famous tourist spots in the country and if you are looking for new places to explore, then this article will be a big help. I have rounded up 5 underrated local wonders that you can visit in the future once everything is safe and leisure travel is allowed.


Mausonoan Island

Maosonan Island or Mystery Island is located in the famed sanctuary of Palawan, specifically in Sibaltan. Powdery white sand, clear turquoise waters, and unspoiled natural beauty will make this place the perfect spot for relaxation and to distress from the busy life in the city.

Kiokong White Rock Wall


For the adventurous type, Kiokong White Rock should be in your bucket list. Popularly known as the first and only Vertical Bivouac in the Philippines, Kiokong White Rock is located in Bukidnon, Mindanao. Sports and outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy climbing up the breathtaking heights and spend a night on the ledge that is 150 meters high or 500 feet. Underneath the spectacular wall is an inviting view of the underground river passing through a cave. A descending trail will lead you into the cave.

Cabgan Islet


Cabgan Islet, also known as the Vanishing Island is a marine sanctuary. It’s located in Barobo, Surigao del Sur and it speaks of sand quality, clarity of the water, and panoramic nature view.


How To Get There: Take a flight to Butuan City and from there, take a bus going to the town of Barobo. From Barobo bus terminal, take a tricycle to the port and hire a boat for an island hopping tour.


Pinipisakan Falls & Sulpan Cave


French cavers led by Paul Marcel discovered Pinipisakan Falls and Sulpan Cave in 1991. Most people don’t know that in the remote area of Northern Samar lies a hidden gem. To get to the cave entrance, you need to swim to the aquamarine cold waters. A must-try for adventure seekers and nature lovers.

Book a flight to Calbayog City and from there, ride a bus that will take you to the town of San Jorge. Take a motorcycle to the Blanca Aurora River and take a boat ride.


Pinacanauan River


Cagayan Valley is home to many beautiful rivers with serene and clear waters including the Pinacanauan River. Known as one of the largest tributaries of the Cagayan River, Pinacanauan River comes from the local term pinacanauan which translates to “left-most”. It is located in the municipality of Peñablanca, Cagayan Valley, and passes through the Callao Caves National Park. Aside from offering picturesque attractions to tourists, the Pinacanauan River also serves as a water source for irrigation.
