Regroe Fights Alopecia

by - September 22, 2017

September is Alopecia awareness month. Minoxidil Regroe is one with the world in celebrating this annual event. The main objective is to increase awareness of Alopecia, what it is about and how one can cope with this condition.

People always see me sporting a new hair color almost every month. I received praises and admiration about how my hair looks but little did they know that I also experienced hair loss. Just this March, I had severe hair fall and before I knew it, there was already a bald spot on my scalp which is about the size of a five peso coin. My hair was short at that time so it would really be impossible to cover the blad area. It leads to depression which eventually affects my self-esteem. I tried many hair products and luckily, the bald spot is now filled with new hair. It was a nightmare and that is why this Alopecia awareness event is something that I personally support.
The Blue Party event happened on September 21 at the Dillinger’s 1903 Steak and Brew at Greenbelt 3 in Makati. This event is Minoxidil’s way of showing support to all those who are suffering from this condition. Bloggers and media people showed their commitment and support by cutting a portion of their hair.
One of the speakers during the event was Au Perez, President of the Alopecia Society of the Philippines. Au is an Alopecia advocate and survivor who shared her challenges in battling this autoimmune disease. According to Au, “Alopecia should not be ignored as it affects not only one’s outer appearance but also one’s inner being. People do not understand that it is not as simple as the shedding of hair to one’s scalp or body but an autoimmune condition that resulted in hair loss.”

Alopecia is the general term for hair loss and is a condition wherein the immune system attacks the hair follicles which leads to partial or complete hair loss. There are different types of Alopecia. Alopecia Areata Patchy refers to the coin-like patches on the scalp or other parts of the body. Alopecia Totalis is the complete hair loss on the scalp while Alopecia Universalis is the complete loss of hair on the scalp, face, and body.

Based on the statistics of National Alopecia Areata Foundation, there are currently 147 people all over the globe who are suffering from Alopecia. Hair loss can be caused by genetics, chemicals used on the hair or scalp or can be triggered by extreme emotions.
Our hair is our crowning glory and losing our hair can be frightening and depressing at the same time. Although Alopecia is a lifelong battle, it’s comforting to know that there are products that work. Dr. Vinson B. Pineda is a distinguished dermatologist who introduced Minoxidil in the Philippines. During his talk, Dr. Pineda shared that “Minoxidil Regroe is scientifically proven safe and effective to grow hair.” “Consistent use of Minoxidil Regroe allows hair to grow back longer, regaining their lost confidence and self-esteem,”, he added.

Minoxidil is on a mission to continuously disseminate information about Alopecia. The brand provides and conducts hair and scalp consultation together with its trade partners so that more people will understand this medical condition.
“Whether you are bald by an autoimmune disease or personal choice, you are still fabulous. It is the quality of your character and soul that makes you YOU! And that is a beautiful and special person."
